Just a very simple and quick question for day 3 of 31 days of questions and answers.
Do you feed the birds? And are you a bird watcher?
*************
If you’ve been here for any amount of time, you already know my answer is yes. I also like to watch for birds when I’m out and about though I usually just rely on the camera zoom if I have it rather than binoculars.
Just yesterday I replaced my hummingbird feeder with a small finch feeder (for some reason goldfinches are the one bird that just don’t like to visit us much). Also, added another suet feeder.
For fun here’s a little collage of some of the bird pictures I’ve shared on the blog previously:
You know my answer to this, Jean…yes to both! I need to get some new feeders up before winter. Love your bird pics! Will be at Missouri Town on Saturday. Will be good to be there. I’ve been so homesick lately. Have a great weekend!
They were talking about the festival on the news yesterday. Glad you are coming up for it. Right now the weather is supposed to be in the 90’s on Saturday, ugh. Maybe it won’t get quite that hot though. Hope you have a wonderful weekend as well!
I only feed the birds when it’s freezing cold. My friend, who lives a few houses down (we’re all in a row, so basically neighbors), has turned her garden into a gourmet bird buffet and takes the most beautiful photos. Meanwhile, our corner house is more like chaos central. When we try to feed the birds, only crows show up. And, well, we’re not exactly rolling out the red carpet for them. Over at her place, it’s all cute little robins!
And yes, I love birds. What a beautiful pics. Some birds are completely unknown in Europe. I would love to see that red one in real life.
Oh, that’s hard. Must be serving up something the crows really like. Sometimes I have to change up my birdseed to discourage certain birds from taking over the feeders. The red one is a northern cardinal. They are very pretty birds and quite common here. Some think seeing a cardinal is a sign a passed away relative is visiting.
ABSOLUTELY! In fact I just added 2 more feeders. We get hummingbirds year round here in this area though not so much all around us so I fee fortunate for those little ones and make sure they have plenty all year long. With living in the country so near to a large pond we also get so many other varieties and have other feeders specifically for them with the non-sprouting food. My favorite thing is at this time of year in particular is watching and listening to the migrating geese every evening as they land for the night on their trek south for the winter.
You know I get so jealous every time you mention your year round hummingbirds, I’m already missing my little feisty fellows so much! Of course, I’ve got some fledgling cardinals that are suddenly hanging out so that’s helping. Oh, I bet you get to see lots of varieties of birds. Most our geese seem to stay year-round (unless I travel north a bit) but I do hear them more at this time of year.
