Read that today was national black cat day. We’re letting our little gray cat be honored a bit since she does look almost black in the dark.
Here are the questions for today:
- Do you own a cat? What color is your cat?
- Are you a cat or a dog person?
- And finally, since it is black cat day and some people associate them with bad luck, are you superstitious?

My answers:
I guess I gave it away sort of at the start of this post. One minor comment though: We don’t own a cat. We are employed by a little gray cat. She owns us.
And though it took me some years to discover it, I’m most definitely 100% a cat person. Of course, that doesn’t mean I won’t pet your lovely dogs if I’m at your house. I am scared of big loud barking dogs though.
Superstitious? I’d say a little bit. Maybe. I don’t think black cats are bad luck especially. However, I’ll probably be drawing an X with my hand if one crosses my path. And the boys think it’s hilarious but I throw that salt over my left shoulder if I spill it. Finally, of course, I have to wear my Chiefs shirts or red of some sort on game days.
How did I not know you had a cat??? We always had cats growing up. In fact, my mom tells me my first word was Pepper! That was our black cat! Steve is a dog person, but we didn’t get one until Rhett went to Kindergarten, and I was super lonely!
I don’t know? Guess I need to start sharing more cat pictures on here 🙂 Didn’t know you had cats growing up, interesting. Funny enough we always had dogs when I was growing up. My sister was allergic to cats (still is to an extent but not as bad as in the past) so I didn’t even know I was a cat person until my early 20s.
I’m an animal person – love cats and dogs both. I am not fond of “yappy” dogs and prefer big dogs, but all dogs are great. I adore cats also – just love their independent ways. And all animals are a reflection of their love and training. I’m not superstitious either. At one point many years ago we had a cat named Blackey. She was a stray kitten who found us around Halloween one year so we brought her inside to protect her. We are currently taking a break from animals after spending the last 25 years with 2 indoor cats, Sady and Dickens who both lived into their 20’s as well as 2 large dogs, Whiskey (16 year old golden retreiver) and Gunner (17 black lab) as well as a string of back yard strays that came to have their kittens in our yard. Our vet used to ask what we fed our animals as they all lived well past their life expectancy.
Lots of animals for you. Totally understand the taking a break part as well.
Good morning! I do have a cat, not black, she is a calico. She is a very sweet, people friendly cat, which is a bit unusual. She is getting up there in age, about 12 years old. We also have 4 dogs, that she has to put up with. I am definitely more of a dog person, but I love my kitty! No, I am not superstitious. I work with an animal shelter, and have all sorts of cats walk in front of me. 😂
Oh, calico cats are so gorgeous! Our late aunt had a calico cat but her cat was opposite of yours and was super skittish. Oh, you must love all animals to work in an animal shelter 🙂
Hello my Lovely! ‘
Playing catch up after our big trip. Missed doing these though! 🙂
As you probably remember – we do have a black cat. Bubba. I had a cat growing up – his name was Dusty. My ex and I had a dog and cats. But then in middle age I developed allergies to certain cats. Thankfully, I’m not allergic to Bubba!! Not superstitious and especially not about black cats. I feel badly for them getting a bad rap. They say that they’re the least likely to get adopted. 😢 But that they’re often the smartest and most inquisitive cats. I can sure that’s true about Bubbs and that he has quite a personality! 😁
Oh, I’m glad that you aren’t allergic to Bubba! Whew. Our cat’s mom was a black cat and she followed my SIL all over the place. I’m pretty sure Chelsey (our little gray cat) has a lot of her mom’s personality. It’s so fun to watch her run down the driveway to greet G when he gets home from work (he’s her person).
