Yesterday, I shared the nature photos from taking the unpaved and paved trails at the nature park.
Today, I’ll share the trees I went to see. You can go back to yesterday’s post to see one more of these trees.
As I mentioned yesterday, as part of a fundraiser for a local charitable organization, individuals purchase and decorate a wooden shape. Usually, winter or Christmas themed, these shapes then go on display at George Owens Nature Park in early December until the end of January. I like to try and get out there each year and view them. Last year, they did gingerbread houses.
This year, trees. I took photos of the ones that caught my eye.
First tree on the trail
While not my favorite, I was a bit partial to the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom theme of it since I work with preschool kids.
Spoons and Money!
These two were interesting based on their design subject matter.
I didn’t get that this tree was designed with spoons until I passed it a second time on the way back to my car.
Hope that’s not real money on this tree! Glad no one took any to test the theory.
Understated themes on these.
I really liked a few of them.
Random but fun designs
If you don’t know, Kansas City is one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup.
Gone Fishing.
Ice cream anyone?
Trees painted on trees. I thought this one was so beautiful! Also, in a way, it made me think of Narnia. Not sure if that was the intent?
How about a shoe tree?
Christmas Themed Trees
Some of these are truly astounding and beautiful as well.
Close up of the Christmas specials tree. Look at the details!
My favorite of the Christmas themed trees:
The Happy Little Tree
This was my favorite of all the trees. Made me laugh out loud when I saw it. Such a cute idea.
Which tree is your favorite?
(And just a note here: yesterday I mentioned the warm weather with the highs in the mid 50’s. It snowed overnight, just a dusting. And is now 33 degrees. Typical Midwestern weather I suppose)

day 12/365
wow! I liked all the trees, my mouth dropped at the one with high heels and I really smiled at the one with Bob Ross. all of them were so creative. Have a lovely day !
I really thought the shoe tree was a creative idea as well. Some very creative people out in the world. Hope you have a great weekend!
That is a neat display. The trees on trees one is very pretty. However, Bob Ross wins the day. That is very creative!
I thought it was neat as well. Probably one of the better displays I’ve seen. The Bob Ross one just makes me smile everytime I even see a picture of it.
All of those trees are interesting. my favorite is the Christmas Specials one.
The different trees were truly unique. That Christmas specials one just transported me back to my childhood and then, to watching some of the specials with my kids.
I liked all the trees, but my favorite was the Tree painted on trees.
That one was definitely in the running to be my very favorite. I wouldn’t mind a regular painting like that to put somewhere in my home.
Yeah, I’d like to have a painting like that, too.
Wow, such creative trees! I am partial to the birch-themed tree. I also like the fishing one! Cute!
I liked the fishing one as well. Almost missed taking a picture of it for some reason. Glad I went back to it.
Ohmygoodness! What cute ideas!!! I love the Bob Ross one, of course, and the gone fishin’ one, the shoe tree, the classic Christmas cartoons, and the Christmas tree cookie with a bite out of it, but I think my favorite is the beautiful trees on tree tree that you said reminded you of Narnia. So pretty! I guess maybe I have heard of this place because I sorta kinda remember the gingerbread theme talked about last year. Either way, I do hope to visit this place at some point. Thanks for sharing!
I think I usually do a blog post about going out there each year. Maybe I didn’t last year though. It’s not as big as Burr Oak Woods (I actually don’t know if I missed them previously or the unpaved trails are new, I think they’re new) but definitely worth your time if you are in the area. Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!
Fun trees, and what an interesting fund raiser idea. I really like the white birch looking one, and the gingerbread one with a bite out of it. The detail on some of them, I agree…. amazing! Some were just too weird for me. lol
WOW these are all so creative and unique! Thanks for the walk through. What a wonderful fundraiser. I LOVED the spoons and the stilettos with bulbs.
Glad you enjoyed seeing the trees. I did like the shoe tree, thought it was a lot of fun.
