Walk It Off

It’s Wednesday and still feeling a bit odd not to go off to work. Today I “overslept” a bit and didn’t get in the shower until almost 7:45. My plan (which could change) is to still get up and get ready at the normal time. The normal routine was wake up at 5:30, then in the shower by 6. I have adjusted a bit already to in the shower at 6:30. Still, I want to make sure I’m still ready for my days.

Another thing I’d like to make sure I do is get some outside time every single day. It’s so important and I know it helps my mood tremendously especially with the cooler, shorter days of fall and winter arriving.

It’s actually cool and rainy this morning so my walk won’t happen until later. Until then, I thought I’d share a few photos from my walks on Monday and Tuesday.

My Walk on Monday

I went for a walk at the small local park I used to drive through on the way to work and sit in the various parking areas for lunch.

There were more turtles on this log but they all started jumping in the water before I could get my phone set. All photos here were taken with my phone. And sadly, most of the lake was covered with the algae. These turtles were the only wildlife I saw (no geese or ducks on Monday) other than a very few backyard songbirds (no photos).

My Tuesday Trek

I went to the park I used to frequent often about 2 years ago. Hope the other hikers appreciated me being first. Hello, spiderwebs! Found myself a bit sad that the trail wasn’t quite as maintained as it used to be. Had to cut it a bit short and return to the paved trail as I wasn’t dressed properly for going through the heavier brush (was wearing shorts and had no desire to find myself covered in seed ticks later).

Not the greatest photo but see that round white thing back there? At first, I passed 2 larger ones that I thought were kid’s balls and was annoyed they left them out. Turns out, they are puffball mushrooms. Passed quite a few more.

A bit of Internet research to discover that as well as that they are edible! They have to still be pure white on the inside. Not a great mushroom fan here so I filed that under “foods I might have to eat during the apocalypse” knowledge. Have you ever eaten one?

They were busy setting up for a special annual Halloween event so I didn’t stay too long at this park.

Today

I won’t  be preparing us a meal of foraged puffball mushrooms. However, I might make some pesto later with basil from my own garden. Mostly, I plan to clean the house a little today and actually get out the Halloween/Fall decor.

I also read somewhere (can’t remember exactly where) that you should treat Wednesdays as a mini-Friday and enjoy a small treat of some sort. So perhaps I’ll do that though I’m undecided exactly what it will be.

What are your plans for this middle of the week day?
