Autumn Walk

A few photos from yesterday morning’s walk on the trail at the nature center. J didn’t have classes but I decided to go and walk anyway, I enjoy it so much. It was chilly yesterday morning as well!

The nature center puts on a Halloween event the last two weekends in October each year. A not so scary forest with a fairy tale theme along the paved trail, aimed at younger children. The trails are still open during the day. These pumpkins were there to cheer on the start of my walk:

I was in the mood to get off of the concrete and ventured onto the unpaved trail.

Still lots of green leaves but…

The color is slowly arriving.

The lookout:

I found it on my own this time though I did have to let the phone camera take this one. (Not sure how to make it pretty with the “real” camera.)

Need a minute?

Hungry? Walnuts!

I’ll pass, aside from these being green and way too high on the tree, I have proper Halloween candy around here.  Time to go back to the car.

Look it’s a finch hiding out.

And we’re back toward the parking lot. This tree near one of the buildings is showing off some beautiful fall color.

Hope you enjoyed the photos. No time to walk today, back to laundry and “taxi” service for J as he’s not quite comfortable enough yet for the 30 minute drive to today’s class. I don’t mind though, it’s a beautiful fall day, not quite 70 degrees, and I have a great book to sit and read while I wait for him. (Current book: Rewind by Catherine Ryan Howard, she’s fast becoming one of my favorite authors with her twisty thrillers)

Seeing any fall colors? Book recommendations for me? How’s your Wednesday going?

  1. Hello! Thank you so much for taking us on your walk! I love the jack-o-lanterns at the beginning! Your leaves are beautiful. They are starting to turn a bit here, but Madison says they are still green at home! Have a cozy evening, my friend.

    1. I was amazed they were still there undisturbed (from wind or creatures) on Thursday morning. They did have a tiny bit of sand in them but it hadn’t looked like enough to me. I see a few more leaves turning every time I out. My husband says soon all the leaves will be on the ground. Hoping we have a few more weeks before that happens. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  2. What gorgeous colours the autumn leaves have! I’m so glad to feel you relaxing in such beautiful scenery. I hope you had an agreeable time reading.

    1. The leaves really are starting to show their colors. I’m getting lots of reading done lately. Not much else nearby while I’m waiting on my son so I use the time to read.

  3. Well, that’s a fantastic blog post, really. What beautiful pictures. And as in that first photo, at least that’s not so Halloween-like scary. Then I would like it too. Here in the Netherlands, the leaves are starting to change color a bit, but not much yet. It’s been warm for so long. If the temperature starts to drop now, it will happen a bit faster. Wishing you lots of blogging enjoyment for the coming week! 😊📷🍁

    1. Thank you! It’s been unusually warm here as well and so dry. I went to stick a scarecrow decoration in a pot of a plant that had been long gone and the dirt was so hard I may as well have been trying to poke it into concrete! Hoping to get a few more blog posts up this week. Also need to come check your posts out, I always see the beautiful pictures in my email but have to wait to read until I’m on the desktop so it’ll translate (maybe I’ll have my son look at my phone today and see why it won’t offer a translate button for me).
