Two Months Later…

Blows cobwebs off blogspace. Hello out here! Anyone still around?

I’m still here just been busy with work, burned out and TIRED at the end of the day, and who knows what else? If you’re interested, I’ll share a brief recap of what I’ve been doing besides work though most of what I’ve done was just work. The weekend before Father’s Day, I did get to go on a girlfriend getaway for a weekend. We went to the Flint Hills of Kansas.

Out of practice over here. Just wrote an entire 800 word post and decided it sounded too grumpy old lady and deleted it. Ha. So take two.

Let’s see, I’ll just start at the end and go backwards with what I’ve been up to lately. I’m on vacation this week (FINALLY), a full week before I go back to working full-time in another classroom (my favorite one) to cover summer vacations until the end of August.

Last night was Bunco (a dice game I usually go play once a month) and I hadn’t been since um, maybe February? I had to go as I was in charge of table snacks. It was fun and today I’m sitting around eating leftover m&m’s while doing laundry. Some vacation, huh? Ha! I had a good time though.

Prior to that, just work and more work. The open the school shift is no joke. Lots of days I was nodding off at 7 in the evening. Lots of work stuff I could comment about but then I’ll veer back into grumpy territory and have to start over again. I did help with pre-k graduation and by that I mean I was subbing for one of the teachers who worked on it with the other teacher. The kids did so good!Β  My co-teachers and I were so proud of them! Okay, enough work talk for now.

May

Flowers my husband brought home from a client’s house:

May was busy with pre-k graduation, Mother’s Day, G’s birthday, family in town, high school graduations, and graduation parties. Honestly, I was out of practice with doing all that AND working full-time hours.

Flowers I wanted to buy at Home Depot but had no spot in my yard where they’d work so I snapped a picture instead:

So Far in June

The day lilies I bought back in 2020 are taking off this year!

Also, in the background, we have an actual garden again this year though we had a very late start with it as in didn’t have anything in the ground until the end of May!

A few photos from the Flint Hills of Kansas:

Does this stone picnic table make anyone else think of the stone table inΒ  The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe?

Last Weekend

On Saturday, the boys and I exercised our First Amendment rights. I try not get political on here as general policy but this is what we did. Husband didn’t go but said he’d bail us out of jail if needed (after he enjoyed some peace and quiet, haha!).

Taken from on hill to try and get the crowd, not the best photo but there were A LOT of people there
I liked this sidewalk chalk art

No peace and quiet for my husband as everyone was super peaceful. I was very thankful for the people handing out free water as it was HOT. We should’ve taken them up on the sunscreen as well, J got a pretty decent sunburn on his face but he’ll be okay.

I also realized how I used to be in such great shape when I worked on the plaza for years in my early 20’s. Those hills that go to the parking areas are no joke! Not the one where I took my photo, these hills are much steeper and higher.

For Father’s Day, we took my husband out to a favorite Mexican restaurant we hadn’t been to in a while. It was really good. And I made a (long gone now) chocolate pie for our dessert. Plus cards and gifts. The kids gave him some kind of game controller and I bought dinner/gave him a card. Seemed happy. A nice low-key day which he needed. We’ve all been super busy with work.

So Far This Week

Not too much else going on, I’m just enjoying not having to be anywhere. Went for a walk yesterday morning (sky picture above) before rain moved in for the afternoon/evening. It’s working it’s way out of here today.

Today’s laundry day with my only real plans to finish up watching a movie I started yesterday called The Road.Β It’s a bit depressing so far, one of those dystopian future kind of things. Good for rainy day watching.

Okay, off to change my clothes over and fold the dry ones. I’ll try not to be as slow as this creature before I post again. No promises.

    1. Thank you! Putting up a blog post made me realize just how much I miss it, going to have to figure out how to fit in my schedule, I think. The upcoming weeks should be a bit better *I hope* at least with the hours I know they will be (8-4:30 is so much nicer than 7-3:30 which is really more like 6:40 to 3:30). Happy First Day of Summer to you!

    1. Aw, thank you so much! I’ve missed posting, trying to get back into it even if I only manage a 1x week post for a bit.
